Dinner in Canggu: where to book

Meimei, on Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong, is a wood-fired Southeast Asian grill from the team behind Yuki and Osteria Luna, built for share plates and tasting menus. CURE, inside Regent Bali Canggu, brings Michelin-starred chef Andrew Walsh’s European and Asian cooking to the beachfront.

Numero Quattro, from the team behind The Lawn and Skool Kitchen, serves classic Italian food in an intimate setting. Lulu Bistrot on Batu Bolong is the address for French dining, and Shelter in Pererenan serves Mediterranean and Middle Eastern share plates in a candlelit garden.

At these restaurants, mains typically start from around IDR 110,000 to 185,000, plus tax and service.

Casual favourites and Indonesian food

For Indonesian classics, Ulekan in Berawa is known for its beef rendang and gado-gado. Lola’s Cantina is a busy Tex-Mex favourite near the rice fields, good for groups, and Skool Kitchen cooks over charcoal on a rooftop above The Lawn beach club.

For a casual bite, Burger Head serves smash burgers, with locations in both Canggu and Umalas.

Where to eat in Umalas

Umalas is quieter but well fed: our team counts 19 places to eat and drink around Jalan Bumbak. Neighbourhood favourites include Revolver, Pizza Fabbrica, Rise & Shine, The Meat Emporium, 7AM Bakers and KAMA Warung, and many are within walking distance.

Warung Dua is known for Balinese flavours, Nook serves Balinese and Western dishes with rice-field views, and Bucu is a family-run warung with international breakfast and Indonesian nasi campur for lunch.

Umalas Lounge: the rooftop day club

Umalas Lounge is the rooftop day club on the roof of The Umalas Signature at Jalan Bumbak No. 156: a pool with a 360° panorama over the rice fields, a bar and an international kitchen.

Breakfast starts at 08:00, followed by pizza, pasta, poke bowls, seafood and grill later in the day. The bar pours cocktails, wine, mocktails, fresh juices and coffee, and a DJ plays daily sets as the sun drops over the rice fields. The pool and bar open daily from 07:00.

Breakfast in Umalas and Canggu

Breakfast is a big deal here. Canggu’s cafés are famous for smoothie bowls and long brunches, and in Umalas you can start the day at Rise & Shine, 7AM Bakers or Bucu, or by the pool at Umalas Lounge from 08:00.

Tips for eating out

Book ahead for popular dinner spots, especially at weekends. A price marked “++” means tax and service are added to the menu price. Traffic slows down evening trips, so a restaurant close to where you stay often makes the better night out, and delivery apps cover most of Canggu and Umalas.
