New Year’s Eve and Christmas in Bali 2026: where to celebrate and how to plan
Bali celebrates the end of the year in a big way, from all-day beach club parties to fireworks on the sand and Christmas services in Denpasar and Kuta. What to expect, how to plan and where to stay.

New Year’s Eve and Christmas in Bali: the short answer
Bali takes New Year’s Eve seriously. The biggest parties are at the beach clubs, led by FINNS in Berawa, and at midnight fireworks go up along the beaches of south Bali. If you prefer something calmer, hotels and resorts host gala dinners with a countdown.

New Year’s Eve in Bali: the big parties
FINNS Beach Club on Berawa Beach calls its New Year’s Eve the biggest party on the island. It runs all day, with the first acts on stage at 3pm, nearly 10,000 guests and a beachfront fireworks display at midnight, across 170 metres of oceanfront with 19 pools.
On the Bukit Peninsula, White Rock Beach Club promotes synchronised fireworks over Melasti Beach, with a laser show for its New Year’s Eve party. Tickets for the big events sell out, so book as soon as the line-ups are announced.
A calmer New Year’s Eve
Many hotels and resorts across the island host New Year’s Eve gala dinners with set menus, live music, cultural performances and a countdown. Expect them to be priced per person and to need booking well ahead.
Fireworks go up along most of the south Bali beaches at midnight, so you can also simply join the crowds on the sand. If you would rather celebrate at home, an apartment with a full kitchen and room service makes a relaxed dinner easy.
Christmas in Bali
Christmas is celebrated in Bali, although on a smaller scale than in many Western countries. Bali’s Christian communities hold services on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at churches such as St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Denpasar, one of the best-known churches on the island, and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Kuta. Services may be in Indonesian, English or both, and churches fill up early.
Resorts and restaurants serve Christmas lunches and dinners, often with live music and a visit from Santa for the children. Book well before Christmas week if there is somewhere you really want to go.
Weather, crowds and traffic in late December
Late December is the rainy season: southern Bali gets about 290 mm of rain over 16 days in December, often in heavy showers. It is also high season, from mid-December to early January, so flights, stays and restaurant tables book out early.
On New Year’s Eve, the roads around the big beach clubs get very busy. Arrive early, plan your ride home in advance, and if you can, stay a short ride away rather than across the island.

Where to stay for the holidays
Umalas sits between the Canggu beach clubs and Seminyak, a short ride from Berawa on New Year’s Eve and quiet when you get home. The Umalas Signature at Jalan Bumbak No. 156 offers 1BR Suites and 2BR Residences with full kitchens and room service, a rooftop pool and the Infinitus gym for the morning after.
Our team can arrange airport transfers and drivers on request, which helps on the busiest nights of the year. Book early for late December, as it is the busiest time of the year in Bali.
